Do you ever stop and realize that people probably discuss you from time to time even when you aren’t around to witness it? Not even in a specifically positive or negative way. It’s in a way where people mention you or think of you, it’s just the fact that you occur to people sometimes. That’s the most unnerving thing that I can think of, it’s so weird, that I exist to people when I’m not even interacting with them.
Dapper Day - When the fashionable visit the Disney parks!
Definition: dap·per Adjective: neat and trim in appearance; very spruce and stylish
The original Disneyland designers frequently populated their renderings with guests who appeared dressed for a day of sophisticated entertainment, men in sharp suits, toddlers working two-pieces, and ladies looking like a page from Dior’s sketchbook - all as if a visit to Disneyland were on par with a night at the opera. And why shouldn’t it be? That’s what Dapper Day is about, realizing those designer’s dreams that Disneyland be experienced as the upscale escape that it is, filled with fashionable guests ready for fun.
Interpret this however you like. A period “Mad Men” look is as correct as the latest haute couture.
GOD I’d love to go to one of these. I even have the clothes I’d like to wear, for the most part.
My boyfriend and I go to Disneyland all the time and most every cast member and security guard knows us or of us. Last Saturday we got asked many a times by employees and guests alike if we would attend Dapper Day. Our answer is always ‘No. Why should we?’
We’re basically ‘Dapper’ every single Saturday when we go to swing dance. It makes me laugh when people get upset with us for not going and calling us ‘not serious’ about dressing up. I don’t see how we’re not serious when we dress vintage every weekend and dance the old classic swing and lindy.
So here was our ‘Every Saturday Dapper Day’ :)
